Security Configuration Management Vendors Expand to Vulnerability Management

Overview Vendors in this vulnerability management segment focus primarily on security configuration policy compliance. Although some concentrate on operational configuration management, most sell primarily to the security buying center. IT security organizations looking to implement security configuration audit and policy compliance functions should evaluate the offerings of security configuration management vendors and should also evaluate the security configuration management functions within the offerings of the broadscope vulnerability management software vendors. Choices will widen as additional operational configuration management vendors begin to introduce security configuration management functions during 2005 and 2006.
