Overview Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) is a kind of cryptographic protocol that provides security and data integrity for communications over networks. SSL encrypt the segments of network connections at the Transport Layer. OpenSSL is an open source, multi-platform implementation of the SSL. Its core library implements the basic cryptographic functions and provides various utility functions. This paper will cover introduction and principle of SSL, installation and configuration of OpenSSL and some example of its application.
