Application Switching Enhances Unix Environment for R&D
Overview At Nortel IT is centrally host and manage a Unix server environment for approximately 12,000 R&D employees running CPU-intensive design applications that produce high transaction volumes. The challenge was to provide a highly available, reliable and scalable server environment for R&D. So, it deployed Nortel Application Switches that is used to allow multiple servers to appear as one aggregate compute resource providing high uptime, simple addition/removal of capacity, and avoidance of any changes to the existing server infrastructure with Server load balancing.
