Oracle Database Migration Between HP 9000 and HP Integrity Platforms Under HP-UX 11i

Overview Migration of an Oracle database in either direction between a PA-RISC-based HP 9000 server and an Intel Itanium-based HP Integrity server is a very simple process, thanks to the compatibility between HP-UX for the HP 9000 platform and HP-UX for the HP Integrity platform. This paper, which is targeted at IT professionals with HP-UX and Oracle administration expertise, documents the migration process and includes several sample migration scenarios with step-by-step instructions. Also included are results of performance testing that show no discernible performance difference between a databases migrated from the HP 9000 platform and a database created "Natively" on an HP Integrity server.
