Best Practices for Implementing Citrix XenServer, HP Edition v5.5 on HP ProLiant Servers

Overview More and more, businesses are looking to virtualize for a multitude of reasons. It may be to consolidate old hardware running old applications and operating systems on to newer more efficient hardware. The process of simultaneously upgrading the application, operating system, and hardware can be quite daunting. Migrating the existing application and operating system to a virtual machine on new hardware allows the server administrator to handle the upgrade in manageable steps, and helps keep disruption to the production environment to a minimum. The ability to create a redundant and highly available environment is also appealing. If the hardware fails, restart the VM (virtual machine) on another server, or if the hardware requires maintenance migrate the VM to a different server to allow upgrading/updating of the current server.
