Deploying Oracle e-Business Suite 11i Database Within an HP Serviceguard Cluster
Overview Over the years, there have been many requests for a straightforward High Availability (HA) solution for the database tier of the Oracle E-Business Suite implementation without the additional cost and complexity associated with deploying and managing an Oracle Real Application Cluster (RAC) solution. This paper describes a basic HP Serviceguard high availability deployment approach with step-by-step procedures for implementing an Oracle E-Business Suite 11i database within an HP Serviceguard active/passive cluster configuration. In an active/passive Serviceguard cluster, the Oracle E-Business Suite database tier is configured as a clustered application where the active node owns the shared cluster resources and runs the database instance, and the passive node acts as a standby server waiting to take over in the event of an active node failure.
