The Path Toward Pervasive Business Intelligence at the School District of Palm Beach County, Florida
Overview The School District of Palm Beach County, Florida (PBCSD) is the 5th largest school district in Florida and the 11th largest school district in the U.S. The school district's 2008/2009 fiscal year budget of $3.5 billion supports 184 schools and 22,144 teachers who serve 169,454 students. It needed to re-evaluate its decision-making processes and the supporting BI and analytics technology architecture. The PBCSD's EDW team decided that its new BI solution should be based on two primary components, the DW and the query, reporting, and analysis tools. To address its BI and analytics needs, PBCSD embarked on a path towards pervasive BI that would require changes to the organization's culture, technologies, and business and IT processes.
