iSCSI Boot Using Double-Take netBoot/i
Overview iSCSI boot allows a server to boot from a remote iSCSI Target LUN. To provide the ability to iSCSI boot from current shipping embedded HP ProLiant NICs, this paper will provide a how-to-guide using DoubleTake's netBoot/i software. After private boot network has been implemented one must install the boot management server. To do this, simply install one of the operating systems supported by Double-Take's netBoot/i software. It would suggest using one of the Microsoft Windows Server supported operating systems. This paper will outline installation on a Microsoft Windows Server 2003 R2 Standard 32-bit edition. By doing this, one will install all boot management components on a single server and will be able to take full advantage to the DHCP option tags used by the Double-Take PXE service.
