Preparing for e-Discovery: Your Road Map to Compliance
Overview
Electronic discovery, also known as e-discovery, is the process of identifying, preserving, collecting, reviewing and producing electronically stored information needed for litigation. This includes paper or physical documents that have been imaged (either scanned or digitized) and stored electronically. One can find data repositories in numerous locations, including share drives, personal directories on PCs and laptops, in document management software, in records management software, in enterprise content management software, in Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems such as SAP and JD Edwards systems, in software databases, and in Web-based software. A wide variety of devices retain the various data stores, including network servers, hard drives, flash drives, backup tapes, external hard drives, CDs and DVDs.
