Better Patient Care at National Cancer Institute Foundation Thanks to HP

Overview The National Cancer Institute Foundation had a need for greater efficiency in the management of the transfusion process, as it had no information system for the detailed monitoring and control of the process. The doctors in the transfusion service did not have instant access to all the necessary information and for some procedures operators only have access to hard-copy aids. The National Cancer Institute Foundation, the Fondazione Politecnico di Milano, and HP drew up a pilot project for total traceability in the transfusion system. An applied solution, based on the use of HP iPAQs and Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) technology.
