Virtualization to Save Company More Than $350,000 Annually in Space and Power Costs
Overview Lionbridge Technologies, a leading provider of localization services, needed to centralize its IT infrastructure. However, the company lacked room in its main data center for more servers, and the time it would take to deploy them also hindered change. To consolidate, Lionbridge implemented Windows Server 2008 with Hyper-V virtualization technology, and then upgraded to Windows Server 2008 R2. By deploying virtual servers, the company has cut server deployment time from weeks to minutes and has eased overall administration. Lionbridge has also tripled its server infrastructure without increasing floor space or power consumption. The company estimates that it will save more than U.S. $350,000 annually in space and power costs by running virtual servers.
