Magic Quadrant for e-Mail Security Boundaries

Overview The e-mail security market is maturing, but speed and breadth of spam detection, and management and reporting capabilities, continue to differentiate vendors. The e-mail security market is rapidly maturing, yet continues to show strong growth and remains a 'must have" security purchase. Marked consolidation by infrastructure players has occurred during the past two years; Cisco acquired IronPort in January 2007, and Google acquired Postini in July 2007. This follows the acquisitions by Secure in 2006 (of CipherTrust) and Microsoft (FrontBridge Technologies) in 2005. Rumors abound that the remaining standalone players will be picked up by infrastructure and larger players because this market has become significant, with fast growth.
