Windows 7 Device Experiences: Authoring Experiences for Printers, Scanners, and Multifunction Printers
Overview This paper provides information about Device Stage for the Windows family of operating systems. It provides guidelines for device partners to effectively create user device experiences for their printers, scanners, and MultiFunction Printers (MFPs). In Windows 7, Device Stage enables hardware manufacturers to provide improved user interfaces to manage their printers, scanners, portable media players, cameras, mobile phones, and other devices. A new user interface for devices, which is named Devices and Printers, shows most of the devices that are typically connected to a computer in one window, which is called the gallery view. A device in the gallery view can be represented by a custom icon and descriptive text that the manufacturer provides.
