U.K. Building Society Cuts Power Consumption by 75 Per Cent With Virtualised Servers

Overview Britannia Building Society has served the interests of its members for more than 150 years. It continues to perform strongly, and, in April, its members voted in favour of the society's merger with Co-operative Financial Services. By deploying the Windows Server 2008 operating system with its integrated Hyper-V virtualisation technology, Britannia Building Society has shown how virtualization - as well as providing a software testing environment - can support business-critical activities across an entire organisation. The technology also demonstrates how a mutual society can better embrace the values of its members by reducing power consumption by 75 per cent, compared to using physical servers.
