Collaborative Analytics: Sharing and Harvesting Analytic Insights Across the Business
Overview The architectural model described provides the basis for a new cooperative approach between the edge-based business analysts and the center-focused IT department. Their long experience and personal understanding of how analysts actually work suggests that the IT department change their approach. Criticizing spreadsheet usage is not enough. IT must provide tools to enable analysts to innovate with data in a managed environment and to allow socialization and collaboration within that community. In addition, IT must speed up the inward flow of new information and analyses from the edge to the center and back again, so that analysts can use accurate and consistent of centrally-sourced information.
