Overview The purpose of this guide is to provide with a reference to security settings that provide countermeasures for specific threats against current versions of the Windows operating systems. Generally, as security increases, functionality decreases, and vice versa. However, there are exceptions, and some security countermeasures actually help to improve functionality. Each section begins with a brief explanation of what is in the section, followed by a list of subsection headings, each of which corresponds to a setting or group of settings.
