Award Winning Australian University Chooses 3Com as It Expands Into Dubai Knowledge Village
Overview In 2000, the University of Wollongong won Australia's most prestigious higher education award, 'University of the Year.' The university is acclaimed for its effective application of digital technologies in preparing students to enter an e-world. Its Dubai Campus maintains exemplifies the quality of education the university provides. University had have different communication needs and, therefore, different network configurations and devices. Also, the network lacked both Layer 3 Switching and DMZ capabilities necessary to allow unauthorized users onto the network without subjecting the network to the potential for hostile attack. After investigating solutions from a number of leading suppliers, and conducting a thorough series of trials, the University of Wollongong installed a solution that combines 3Com XRN (eXpandable Resilient Networking) technology and switches and firewalls.
