Overview Universiti Tun Hussein Onn Malaysia (UTHM)-first established in 1993-gained university status in 2000. With more than 8,000 network users and 52 campus buildings, the school has a strong commitment to networked communications. Its education goal is to develop innovative and competent technology specialists and IT industry leaders. Teaching, learning and research, as well as administrative functions, are facilitated by a wired and wireless network that extends throughout the campus, including to student and staff housing facilities. Recognizing the need to remedy current bandwidth and performance issues and prepare for future requirements, UTHM upgraded its network in early 2006 using 3Com enterprise switching solutions. Today, the university's administrators, faculty and students enjoy a secure, fully-redundant, highly reliable and future-proof infrastructure featuring a 10 Gbps network core.
