Secure Wireless Network Increases Information Access for Chiang Mai University Students and Lecturers While Decreasing Costs
Overview Chiang Mai University's goal is to become a communications and knowledge access hub for northern Thailand. After installing a new Gigabit wired network, the University chose 3Com to build a secure wireless network to extend connectivity across the entire campus. A fast and efficient deployment using Power over Ethernet (PoE)-enabled wireless access points has freed students and lecturers to access and share knowledge anywhere, anytime. Built-in security capabilities and centralized control provide pervasive protection against network intrusion-for both the wireless and cabled network. Additionally, these improvements vastly reduce the IT management burden and provide a beneficial return on the University's information technology investment.
