Special Services School District Empowers Disabled Students Using a 3Com Enterprise Network Solution

Overview One of the most progressive special education systems in the United States, Mercer County Special Services School District of Trenton, New Jersey, provides 750-plus seriously disabled students from 18 communities with an advanced special education curricula well beyond the means of local school districts. Mercer County Special Services School District sought to upgrade its network with high-speed, scalable switches that would deliver the bandwidth, security, and ease of management it required. After evaluating the marketplace, the district concluded that the 3Com Switch 8810 and Switch 5500G best met these criteria. The district worked with 3Com reseller ePlus Technology of Herdon, VA to complete the installation in August 2005 and contracted 3Com Global Services to maintain it.
