Two Small Businesses Work as One With Converged 3Com "Connect and Forget" Network

Overview Most small companies are content to do one thing well, but Health Services Group, Inc. (HSG), excels in two distinct markets. HSGear.biz, an entirely online retailer, requires around-the-clock connectivity to power its online catalog and electronic shopping cart, forward orders to vendors, and respond promptly to customer questions. HSG sought a vendor that could deliver a reliable, feature-rich switching solution with plug-and-play simplicity. Although HSG evaluated 10/100 Ethernet switches from Cisco and Dell, it found that Cisco's offerings with similar functionality were significantly more costly than 3Com systems and required greater maintenance, while the Dell switch did not deliver the throughput HSG expected. Based on reliability, cost, and overall ease of use, HSG decided 3Com was a company to keep.
