County of Nevada, California, Leverages Its Existing 3Com Secure Converged Network to Increase Capacity and Cut Costs
Overview The County of Nevada, located in the heart of Northern California's Gold Country, has a long history of making the most of its resources. The County's approach to managing its IT infrastructure is no different. Having committed to 3Com IP telephony solutions in 1999, the County's IT leadership recently embarked on an upgrade of its Voice over IP (VoIP) infrastructure that illustrates how solid its initial investment was. As the County's network of 3Com NBX IP telephony platforms, IP phones and edge switches continues to provide services, it is transitioning to the higher capacity NBX V3000 platform backed by newer switches that deliver Power over Ethernet (PoE). The update creates a converged infrastructure that will support the County for years to come, increase the reliability of its phone service and reduce energy costs.
