Managing SSL Security
Overview Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) is the fundamental security protocol that has enabled use of the Internet to extend from information presentation to e-business. By encrypting information between the Web browser and the Web server, transactions that require a degree of confidentiality can be delivered via the Internet. At the heart of enabling this security is the SSL certificate. As enterprises and governments rely more and more on SSL, the number of certificates in use can grow into the hundreds or even thousands. This white paper explores each of these issues and identifies opportunities for customers to reduce the cost and complexity of using SSL. These opportunities are mapped to the capabilities of the Entrust Certificate Management Service that provides a complete offering for managing SSL certificates.
