ZXTM Supports GreatSchools by Helping With the ABCs: Application Acceleration, Bandwidth Savings and Content Compression
Overview Based in San Francisco, GreatSchools is an independent nonprofit organization committed to helping parents in the U.S. choose schools, support children's education and improve schools in their communities. They were looking for a solution that would run on top their operating system of choice, FreeBSD. They have three x86 boxes running FreeBSD 6 and two incumbent network switches that do simple Layer-4 load balancing. These switches then distribute web traffic to the three redundant ZXTM servers in a round robin fashion, which perform content compression and caching of frequently requested content, which greatly accelerates content delivery from the back-end application servers, delivering a better overall experience to the users.
