Expanding the Reach of Health Care in Developing Nations With WiMAX
Overview Developing nations face urgent challenges in improving access to and the effectiveness of their health care systems with very limited financial and human resources. With technologies like Worldwide Interoperability for Microwave Access (WiMAX), wireless broadband connectivity is set to play a growing role in meeting the World Bank goals of increased affordability and efficiency of health care in developing nations. WiMAX brings real-time wireless broadband connectivity to remote and mobile workers, clinics, and hospitals and has the potential to greatly increase access to and quality of health care, expand the availability of training to the health care workers, and improve epidemiological and demographic data collection.
