Three-Screen Service - Challenges and Opportunities
Overview This ROA Group white paper examines three-screen service that combines TV, PC and mobile devices, offering the same TV programs and movies on these 3 platforms. As a background, the paper briefly introduces Orange Cinema Series that is a three-screen service provided by Orange. Before the service launch, France Telecom held many discussions with regulators and audiovisual producers in France, and was finally able to launch the service in November, 2008. This paper also analyzes the three-screen service in the context of three main players, including consumer electronics manufacturers, operators and platform providers, as well as emphasizes the importance of smartphones in providing the service.
