Overview For one top computer manufacturer, explosive growth led to an increasing need for supply chain support and performance. It was a constant challenge to keep costs and cycle times down while meeting increasing consumer demand. The Houston market was a major distribution hub for this manufacturer, and operations there required immediate attention. With multiple warehouse locations, carriers and vendors, the local supply chain network was complicated and lacked a streamlined approach. The customer wanted to consolidate the Houston network, improve product visibility and increase Key Performance Indicator (KPI) management. With the challenges in mind, Exel analyzed the current situation and developed a supply chain solution that included improvements in transportation and warehousing. Rounding out the solution was the overhaul of finished goods distribution.
