Analysis - Biometrics: Digital Identity

Overview IBS has covered the progress of biometric technology in the banking sector twice before, and on both occasions the bank installing biometric technology was in the Middle East. Cairo Amman Bank was the first in the world to adopt an iris biometric identification management system from Irisguard (IBS, July/August 2008), and Banque Saudi Fransi's internal biometric security system was explored in November (IBS, November 2008). The similar geography of these two examples is no coincidence. The Middle East as a whole is further down this road than the West.
