Overview Delta Air Lines is one of the world's largest airlines by any measure. Delta was among the first airlines to recognize the benefits of electronic invoicing and was a pioneer in the adoption of Electronic Data Interchange (EDI) to eliminate paper invoices and streamline its purchase-to-pay process. Unfortunately, the complexity and costs associated with EDI prevented many of Delta's suppliers from supporting this technology. As the volume of paper continued to grow, so did the related costs and control issues, including lost invoices, a manual and paper-intensive approval process, an inconsistent dispute resolution process, and the volume of supplier inquiries. Maintaining its history as an industry leader, Delta was among the first airlines to select IATA InvoiceWorks, and BearingPoint helped the company implement the service in 2004.
