Development and Publication of Generic Middleware Components for the Next Generation Mobile Service Platform

Overview Opportunities promised by IMS and value-added multimedia services have given mobile network operators and solutions provider a new impetus to: equip middleware platforms to deal with services distribution and heterogeneity; and to accelerate development and provisioning of services in a consistent and methodical manner. This paper describes a methodological approach to the development and life cycle management of middleware components, and publication and discovery of component's services. The methodology addresses the need for a common understanding of the heterogeneous service execution platforms in form of artefacts such as interfaces specifications, UML information and use case models, meta-models, XML Schemas, representing the components and services.
