Overview There have been many variations of search technology from Microsoft. Therefore, it is useful to get a "big picture" view of where they all fit. This white paper provides observations from the author on four search technologies: Indexing Service; MSN Desktop Search; Windows Desktop Search; and Windows Search. After reading this white paper, the reader should gain a better understanding of where the "desktop search" tools fit in the universe of Microsoft search tools.
