Overview Just as classic, high-quality merchandise has been Talbots' trademark for more than 50 years, so has its commitment to outstanding customer service. In the past Talbots gift certificates were printed on paper and any balance required a new smaller denomination certificate to be created. New plastic gift cards would have a changing balance as the card was used, creating a need to provide the current balance to a customer whenever required. Using the expertise of Intervoice Inc. and the power of Microsoft Speech Server 2004, Talbots created a new voice-enabled gift card balance application. The company expects overall customer satisfaction levels will be further enhanced because of faster around-the-clock service with development costs dropping as much as 50 percent.
