Automatic Speech Recognition on IBM CELL Broadband Engine
Overview This paper exploits the multicore processor architecture of IBM CELL Broadband Engine for enhancing performance of Automatic Speech Recognition systems. Most of the Automatic Speech Recognition systems are generally compute intensive and improving the performance of such systems in terms of speed and accuracy is the focus of the research. This paper explores the parallel implementation and performance analysis of important speech recognition related algorithms such as Noise Removal, Feature Extraction, Vector Quantization and HMM decoding on the CELL. The authors' also investigate the areas where it is not viable to use the CELL architecture for performance enhancements.
