Distributed XML: Priorisation in Segmentation of XML Documents

Overview Using XML for describing and manipulating documents' contents has gained a lot of interest. A myriad of XML-based languages are nowadays used to store various types of structured documents and datasets ranging from tiny and simple to huge and complex. The growing market of mobile devices has boosted wireless interchange of XML documents with different kinds of applications. In certain wireless environments, efficient transmission calls for XML segmentation, that is, division of an XML tree into smaller subtrees or elements, and further, transmitting these segments for the receivers. The objective is to propose the conceptual framework of Distributed XML, a novel solution to the problem why someone would like to consume his or her mobile host's battery and pay for bandwidth usage for someone else.
