A Distributed AOP System for J2EE Applications
Overview As benefits of AOP are getting recognized, a few AOP systems, such as AspectWerkz, Spring AOP, and JBoss AOP, have been developed for the J2EE platform before. However, they are general-purpose AOP frameworks independent of J2EE. The language mechanisms provided by those AOP systems are basically ones inherited from AspectJ. To address these problems, the paper presents a new AOP system for J2EE, named DJcutter. By comparison with existing AOP systems, it is integrated into J2EE and provides AOP mechanisms designed for J2EE. First, DJcutter provides a new mechanism called remote pointcuts. Although a pointcut in AspectJ identifies execution points on the local host, a remote pointcut can identify them on a remote host transparently.
