Intrusion Detection Pays Dividends for Major Financial Services Company
Overview Security is a multi-layered approach with corporate policies and technology solutions ranging from firewalls to anti-virus to Intrusion Detection Systems (IDS). IDS delivers an indispensable level of insurance against employees who may breach corporate security policies and detects external threats like the next Slammer worm or Denial-of-Service (DoS) attacks. The company needed intrusion detection at Gigabit Speeds and reduce number of devices for enterprise-wide IDS deployment. The challenge was to improve accuracy of detection and reduce total cost of ownership, specially ongoing management, and operations costs. The company deployed more than thirty McAfee IntruShield 4000 and McAfee IntruShield 2600 sensors in in-line and SPAN modes deployed at nine sites around the globe.
