County Improves Security and Streamlines IT Resources
Overview Fulton County, the largest county government in Georgia, covers more than 529 square miles and provides services for 866,000 constituents. After being hit by the Blaster computer virus, which caused a 48-hour network outage, Fulton County began to evaluate network security issues. The results led to a series of security enhancements to prevent further network downtime and inefficient use of network resources. Partnering with Microsoft, the county implemented the Microsoft Windows Server 2003 operating system, Enterprise Edition with Service Pack 1 (SP1), to enhance the security, reliability, and productivity of its IT resources. Through this implementation, Fulton County has improved security by leveraging IT resources and streamlining its data center servers.
