Medicalodges Expands Healthcare Network Capacity With Accelerators
Overview Medicalodges' Wide Area Network (WAN) connects 23 skilled nursing facilities, 11 assisted living centers, two facilities for the developmentally disabled, three home health agencies and one skilled facility for the mentally handicapped. The volume of networked medical data was degrading the performance of Medicalodges' network. Medicalodges had the option of going with a traditional network upgrade from 56 kbps circuits to 128 kbps or T1 speeds for several locations. However, this was a costly option that was going to require longer lead-time and would be disruptive to daily operations. After careful evaluation, Medicalodges decided to deploy multiple units of Expand's Accelerator 4800 and 1800 Series to boost the performance of its 56Kbps and 128Kbps lines.
