Allied Telesyn Revolutionizes the Telco Industry Solution Lays the Foundation for Video Services Over ADSL

Overview A group of eight Independent Operating Companies (IOCs) in rural southwestern Wisconsin formed a consortium called (MWT) Midwest Tel Net's goal is to provide reliable Internet access and Internet-related services at an affordable price throughout its 1,450-square-mile service area. MWT wanted to offer broadcast video bundled with voice and data over one copper telephone pair. The IOCs needed a simple, scalable way to deliver the service at a price point competitive to cable and satellite companies. In order to truly compete with cable providers, the video service needed to be broadcast-quality and jitter-free. After considering MWT's needs and network requirements, Allied Telesyn presented a full system solution for deploying IP Video over ADSL using its Ethernet-based products.
