Optical Networking White Papers

Are the Business Models for IPSec and MPLS VPNs Competitive or Complimentary From a Service Provider's Perspective?

Overview In the future, people will see a network, which combines both the MPLS and IPSec approaches. Companies will run MPLS in their core, and will connect their clients to their Points of Presence (POPs) using IPSec. This will see companies deploy POPs at various international and domestic locations and connect their clients to these using IPSec VPN tunnels. The authors are confident that MPLS is going to be the predominant technology run in the core and MPLS VPNs will be used to connect various PE routers. With planned management, service providers will be able to provide excellent SLAs in both the domestic and international markets. These will be sufficient to support voice, video and multimedia data.
