A Unified Approach to Routing in Hybrid Sensor Networks
Overview In a hybrid sensor network, wires act as short cuts to bring down the average hop count of the network. Single sink multiple source nature is utilized for realizing short cuts as bridges in hybrid sensor network. Since constructing short cut is not always feasible, this paper presents a practical approach through multi-hop communication for actualizing short cuts as bridges. Evaluating a basic form of bridge construction procedure, it characterizes different trade-offs and identify critical requirements like sink placement. Wireless sensor network benefits from a unifying abstraction and protocols may transcend different layers. Based on this factor, a Unified Routing Protocol (URP) is developed which operates jointly with bridges.
