Overview Telefonica wanted to simplify its existing call accounting chains in accordance with the type of customer, service or technology. The challenge was to increase existing charging and promotions capacity to enhance the business offering and also create an application that would function as a real-time universal call accounting system that could be extended to all Grupo Telefonica operators. As a solution Telefonica deployed BEA WebLogic Server and BEA Tuxedo, the Altamira Universal Call Accounting System comprises a real-time call accounting engine, a management system, and a general purpose IVR. Altamira currently offers a broad catalog of BEA Tuxedo services capable of supporting any business process required by Telefonica's business units.
