Overview Based in Kassel, Germany, Bombardier Transportation is one of the world's largest providers of fleet services, including full train and fleet maintenance, materials and logistics programs. Bombardier is using high-performance computing (HPC) to perform comprehensive rail-vehicle crash analysis. Such analysis is required to comply with international passive safety standards. An 8-node, 64-bit cluster based on Microsoft Windows Compute Cluster Server (WCCS) 2003 helps Bombardier perform simulations even for the new, extended regulations, while still meeting fixed project schedules. High performance, competitive pricing, and easy implementation in a familiar Windows environment were the reasons Bombardier Transportation selected Windows Compute Cluster Server 2003.
