Distributor Speeds Productivity and Reduces Costs With Centralized Infrastructure

Overview Mantrac Group sells and supports Caterpillar construction machines, power systems, and material-handling equipment. In 2007, its 2,600 employees relied on a virtual private network and wide area network to access applications. Mantrac wanted not only to simplify application access, but also to consolidate its infrastructure. In 2008, Mantrac deployed Windows Server 2008 to take advantage of new Terminal Services capabilities as well as features such as Hyper-V virtualization and Network Access Protection. As a result of the deployment, employees can access applications six to nine times faster, which has boosted productivity by more than 50 percent. Mantrac is also reducing costs and simplifying IT management.
