Shipment FUSION Integrates Disparate Lines of Business
Overview FedEx is comprised of multiple business units, most of which were formerly independent companies. The disparate systems employed by each operating company had created roadblocks to unified shipment tracking and consolidated account reporting. The company felt that it was imperative from both a competitive and operational standpoint to eliminate the lines separating each operating company wherever those lines impacted customer satisfaction or employee productivity. FedEx built Shipment FUSION (FedEx Unified Strategic Information Optimization Network) on BEA WebLogic Server 8.1. The solution ties together the shipment systems of each business unit to provide internal and external users with a single resource for all shipment tracking and account reporting.
