Portal Environment Manages Up to 10,000 Sequential Research Programs

Overview Research Council of Norway wanted to move away from paper-based processes and systems for managing applications for research projects from Universities, research institutes, and other research bodies. The challenge was to streamline system for collating, tracking, and managing circulation of applications among referees who determine eligibility for research funding and manage reporting process for ongoing research projects. Research Council of Norway deployed BEA WebLogic Portal 8.1 and BEA WebLogic Integration 8.1 to create a Service-Oriented framework for managing research projects. Portal receives up to 6,000 applications for research grants every year. Applicants can only apply online.
