CNPC BGP Reduces Costs, Streamlines System Maintenance With Grid Computing Solution
Overview CNPC BGP Inc. (BGP) is one of the world's leading onshore geophysical service providers. BGP's various business applications are accessed via an online portal environment. The company wanted to simplify system management and reduce support costs through automation to reduce staff workload and increase efficiency. As BGP was experiencing rapid business growth, the new IT infrastructure also had to be highly scalable. The company wanted the ability to add more servers as required, rather than make a large upfront investment on hardware that would only be needed much later. In 2005, BGP deployed Oracle Database 10g with Oracle Real Application Clusters and Oracle Application Server 10g running on Red Hat Linux and six Intel-based Dell servers.
