German Crime Agency Bundeskriminalamt Pursues SOA to Automate Processes and Protect Data

Overview Bundeskriminalamt (BKA) is the German federal crime agency. Bundeskriminalamt (BKA) wanted to implement a service-oriented architecture (SOA) and automate internal BKA business processes and ensure a smooth integration with the existing operational IT infrastructure. The challenge was to establish a component model to support a gradual, iterative strategy and support defined, established business processes. Bundeskriminalamt (BKA) worked with Oracle Consulting to evaluate Oracle SOA Suite to create a SOA to improve business processes throughout the organization and explored deployment of SOA to standardize data exchange between police authorities and enhance file sharing for comparative scenarios or inquiries.
