Using PostgreSQL and Solaris 10 to Improve Data Warehouse Performance
Overview OmniTI is an Internet technologies consulting company based in Columbia, Maryland. OmniTI wanted to scale up to meet customer's growing database requirements and gain flexibility to handle growing workload without reengineering processes. The challenge was to migrate from proprietary to open-source database to control costs and establish a stable operating system platform for open-source database application. As a solution OmniTI deployed a flexible, open-source PostgreSQL database and Solaris 10 operating system for x64 systems support for open-source applications.
