By Consolidating 90 Percent of Its Physical Servers, the Ryerson University IT Group Is Poised to React More Quickly to University Needs

Overview Ryerson University was founded in 1948 to train a growing workforce to meet the demands of a booming postwar economy. The ever-increasing demand for IT services at the university put significant stress on IT staff and data center capacity. Ryerson wanted to speed server provisioning and reduce space, power, and cooling needs and also implement rapid disaster recovery. Dell Infrastructure Consulting Services (ICS) led a project to identify underutilized servers and consolidate onto Dell PowerEdge blade servers running VMware Infrastructure 3 and mirrored Dell/EMC Storage Area Networks (SANs).
